Triple amazing for world-leading PVCu manufacturer VEKA

May 21, 2024

VEKA plc, one of East Lancashire’s top employers and the UK’s leading PVCu supplier, has been shortlisted in the award’s Large Business, Employer of the Year and Manufacturing Excellence categories.

The Burnley Business Awards celebrate the town’s best and brightest enterprises, reflecting on the achievements of the past 12 months. A successful 2023 created 70 new jobs at VEKA, and delivered a 25 per cent rise in the company’s turnover.

With over 400 employees, this is not the first time VEKA will compete with Burnley’s most prominent companies for the Large Business award, as they look to retain their long-standing title having scooped the accolade for the third time in 2022.

Across the business the PVCu manufacturer retains the core values set by their family-owned heritage, earning recognition from the Global Authority on Workplace Cultures as one of their ‘Great Places to Work’ in 2023. VEKA aims to reaffirm that accreditation by picking up the Employer of the Year award at the Burnley Business Awards.

As UK subsidiary of the largest PVCu systems manufacturer in the world, VEKA is also eager to earn the Manufacturing Excellence award at this year’s event. The business is renowned for leading quality, innovation and sustainability across its industry, having recently launched a brand-new product demonstrating a trailblazing, quantum leap in PVCu fabrication.

Neil Evans, managing director at VEKA plc said: “Our business is very much about high technical standards and know-how, with an uncompromising focus on product quality. Plus, we’re incredibly proud of the family-culture that underpins how we operate as a business and our role in contributing to the local economy.”

VEKA’s longstanding ties to Burnley date back four decades, providing essential jobs and initiatives to the local community. Neil also chairs the business consortium, Burnley Bondholders, dedicated to raising the prosperity and profile of the borough.

He adds: “The Burnley Business Awards is an event we aspire to be a part of every year. Highly respected, the awards highlight businesses making a significant contribution to the area in which we have a rich history. I’m delighted that the hard work of everyone at VEKA continues to be recognised – three fold.”
