Investing in the next generation

Investing in the next generation

The youth of today are the future of tomorrow.  We recognise that to remain the industry leader, investment in our young people matters.

Since 1994, we have offered apprenticeships, initially starting with engineering schemes and now extended to other areas of the business including IT, HR and Purchasing.

Apprenticeships are a great way to kickstart a career, and the only limits are those that you set on yourself. Our current MD started off his working life as a VEKA apprentice, so the sky truly is the limit.

"I'm currently on the first year of my apprenticeship with VEKA where I've undertaken 40 weeks training at Burnley College. VEKA regularly support me on how I can improve and progress within the Tool Room department. In September, I will be starting the HNC Mechanical course which VEKA is funding to help me develop even further. Having an apprenticeship at VEKA has helped me to build my confidence and learn so much in such a short amount of time. Everyone has been extremely welcoming and kind - i'm glad to be a part of the team!"

Luke Byrne's Apprenticeship Journey

A key member of our Maintenance department, Luke Byrne is our Maintenance Apprentice, working alongside colleagues with years of experience allows Luke to benefit from their knowledge whilst learning and gaining essential qualifications…. Plus the pay isn’t too bad either. Does earning whilst learning sound good to you?
