Scott Bentley
Maintenance Engineer

“I started as an Apprentice at VEKA in 2014 and immediately started working on my NVQ level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship Course and Ordinary National Certificate (ONC). After completing my first year I received ‘Electrical Apprentice of the Year Award’. I then went on to complete my Higher National Certificate (HNC). In 2017, I completed my Apprenticeship and became an Engineer within the team. Since then I have achieved so much, from my Higher National Diploma to my Degree at Burnley College & Advanced Apprenticeship in Manufacturing. VEKA has sponsored me and given me the time to undertake all of these qualifications. My managers have been great mentoring, supporting and encouraging me throughout my career.  I’ve never been turned down for a course I have applied for that’s one of the main reasons I’d recommend VEKA to anyone!”

Lee Russell
Lamination Process Leader
“I've been with VEKA for 5 years. I previously worked in retail management for 10 years. I’ve ‘worked my way up’ from a Trainee, through to a Lamination Operator, Quality Control Operator, Line Operator and I’ve recently been promoted to a Process Leader. What I really enjoy about VEKA is the chance to progress. There are so many different career opportunities and the training and development is excellent. I enjoy the shift pattern and how it fits in with my lifestyle and family life. My role is fascinating- I’m always on the lookout for how we can improve productivity or quality. And it’s not just talk- my ideas are put into action! But don’t just take my word for it- come and join the VEKA family. You won’t regret it!”

Head of Commercial Support
“Not long after I joined VEKA, I began a whirlwind tour of the business. My first major task was a major health and safety project, managing a team of experienced staff and a large budget. I then went into the packaging department, then lamination where I went on to shifts for four months,I worked shift patterns around my family life, VEKA were very supportive. My career at VEKA has continued to move forward, and I am now applying my operational experience in my new role as Head of Commercial Support. It was great to be given so many opportunities to test myself, leave my comfort zone and really get to grips with a problem. VEKA is the sort of place where if you’re ambitious and want to succeed, you get all the support and opportunities you need.’”
