WLECOME TO FRAME - MAY EDITION

Welcome to the May edition of Frame. In this edition we will look back over what the first four months of the year brought us as well as what we've got to look forward to for the rest of 2021.In a year that we could never predict from one week to the next we would like to take this opportunity to, again, thank you, our customers, suppliers and employees for continuing to support and contribute to a successful start to the year.

First things first...Made to Order & Raw Material Market Impacts

Before we tell you about our exciting developments let’s talk about the hard stuff. We’re in a time of unprecedented demand, one that none of us have seen before, and combined with the most unusual set of personal circumstances we’re all trying to plan for a future that has no certainty (even with a roadmap).

That said, we are here, as always, to be a safe pair of hands. We’re adjusting our plans along the way to ensure we’re in the best possible position to provide you with reliable supply throughout the pandemic. Whilst there are challenges, we feel confident to take our Made To Order (MTO) offer back to a five week lead time. Whilst we hope you welcome the re-introduction of the standard MTO lead time, it is worth remembering that, on average, almost 99% of everything we sell is ex-stock.

One area we need to act on is the ongoing acceleration of raw material prices. Our annual price increase can deal with normal, reasonable, and planned cost impacts. It cannot foresee or cope with the realities of what is currently happening hence our policy has always quoted the need to return with price increases in “exceptional” circumstances. You will have recently received a letter outlining how this affects you, and your Business Development Manager is on hand to discuss this should you wish to, as are any of the VEKA team.

We understand that any pressures on the price of products are not welcome. We are genuinely in exceptional times with unimaginable raw material pressures and not to act would be irresponsible as part of our ethos is being a supplier to you that is sustainable and stable.  The supply chain has come under significant pressure over the past 12 months, yet despite this, you can be confident that VEKA remains strong and focused on ensuring we provide you with the highest quality products you demand now and in the future.

The market is still bouyant and as we still find ourselves in lockdown, homeowners remain focused on home improvements making use of disposable income that would have likely gone on hospitality and holidays, with one of our larger customers up a huge 92%!

That said, this unprecedented demand is now resulting in significant pressures on raw materials. We have been aware of the situation for some months as we have seen pricing rocket, though we are working closely with VEKA AG to manage the situation and thankfully we have been less affected than others; with supply issues affecting lead times for many of our competitors as well as other related products such as both glass & steel having their own supply issues.

We are doing everything in our power to ensure we have sufficient raw materials to sustain demand, but these are unprecedented times and we are at the mercy of suppliers who too are under significant pressure from extraordinary market demand.

VEKA has introduced a virtual tour allowing customers to view the factory, including the new Lamination building, from anywhere in the world, created to follow the flow of the process from compound to delivery, the virtual tour has been developed as many customers cited one of the highlights of meeting VEKA was seeing and believing the size of the operation.

WinDoPlan

In 2020 we launched our revolutionary new service WinDoPlan to our customers, changing the way they work and how they specify commercial projects this new tool proved a huge success. This year we’re pleased to roll WinDoPlan out to our commercial customers.

‘As a company we are asked for specific section details which used to take up a considerable amount of time to procure, this was until the introduction of WinDoPlan!

The speed and efficiency of being able to log in, select a specific window style with the exact add on requirement for the project and download the head, jamb, or sill detail in various formats for PDF / DOC / DWG / PNG or IDXF reduces the time required and gives a more accurate interpretation of the clients requirements.

The benefit of being able to check the structural integrity of transoms & mullions without the need to send out information to the technical team at VEKA saves copious amounts of time and more importantly allows you to quickly ensure that you are compliant with your proposition.

WindDoPlan increases the efficiency of our business as well as increasing the professional feel of the documents we can now share with our clients.’

CSR 2021

We’re pleased to launch our second corporate social responsibility report. Reflecting on this difficult year this report will be different to our 2020 report as we focus on where we are and where we want to be. CSR is a central part of our company strategy for the next 5 years. It is very important to us that the way we work – and the strong sense of ethics we apply – will continue to be a key reason why our customers want to do business with us and why people choose to join our company and thrive in our family. 2020 was a turbulent year for many and as such we were unable to fully achieve all of the goals we set out in our 2020 CSR report, see image below. We remain committed and endeavour to get back on track by the end of 2021 and this year’s report highlights those 12 goals, which also reflect our new company mission:  ‘We care about our partners, our people & our environment.
