Job description

To lead the promotion, sale and contribution of specialist products (customer specific trade extrusion and compound) in order to deliver VEKA’s ambitious growth plans in this new area of operation. Prospecting for and securing new business and effectively account managing, developing and retaining our existing customer base.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Divisional Sales Director, you will be responsible for securing and managing all specialist product accounts across the UK and Ireland to secure the best possible business performance and market penetration for VEKA. Whilst the role will require an element of UK and Ireland travel, the successful candidate has the autonomy to make use of available technologly to minimise travel requirements whilst providing the best customer journey.

Specialist Products is an early stage new strategic objective for VEKA, looking to utilise our core manufacturing competence and capacity to offer trade extrusion and compound mixing services to a range of diverse businesses.  Key for us is to attract low complexity and high value business from clients who see the benefit in partnering with a World-class manufacturer and this person will have full responsibility to find and secure such business

This position will focus on maximising sales in order to meet and exceed targets in line with the Company’s objectives.

Customer

  • Maximise profit and cash generation through effective planning, budgeting and delivery of revenue targets for all existing customers and new business.
  • Pro-active approach to developing a prospect sales pipeline through networking, aimed at sustainably growing the business year on year.
  • Manage relationships with all key stakeholders, i.e. VEKA Recycling, Engineering, Procurement and Commercial Support, for the purpose of integrating specialist products customers into our business.

Company

  • Ensure compliance with legislation, company policy and procedures contributing to continuous improvement.
  • Keep confidential all sensitive company information.
  • Maintain and improve your knowledge of systems, services, products, markets and relevant standards. Keep up to date with various industry trends & legislation.
  • Collate market, competitor and prospective customer information, feeding this back to relevant departments within the Company.
  • Maintain a flexible and enthusiastic approach to Company matters, upholding and promoting the VEKA ACT values at all times, both internally and externally.

Team

  • Positively contribute to a unified and dynamic sales team that is highly respected both internally and externally to the business.
  • Keep the team and company fully informed with regards to customer, competitor, supplier, Company and market matters
  • Liaise and maintain working relationships with colleagues and departments on day to day duties and issues.

Process

  • Determining the most effective method of communication, including face-to-face client meetings, with a stronger than ever focus on alternative methods, including video conference calls.
  • Ensure compliance with legislation, company policy and procedures contributing to continuous improvement.
  • Work unsupervised solving problems and ensuring required standards are maintained.
  • Deliver timely and accurate activity reports, records and information.

Skills/experience required

  • Proven track record of actively targeting and converting new business as well as effectively account managing existing customers within a business to business sales role.
  • A strong need to succeed in highly competitive markets.
  • The ability to build strong mutually beneficial and profitable relationships with customers.
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, communication, analytical and negotiation skills.
  • The behaviours of a highly motivated self-starter with the ability to manage their own time effectively.
  • Reliable, flexibile and resilient.
  • Competently liaise with all relevant departments, to ensure that customer requirements and specifications are fully understood.
  • Excellent I.T. and financial understanding skills are essential, as is confident and effective communication.
  • The ability to explore new markets, with a focused, naturally inquisitive and determined approach.
  • Ideally experience working within the Extrusion sector.
