PR & Events Manager

Job description

Reporting to the Marketing Communications Manager, you will be responsible for the implementation of a proactive PR strategy and the successful planning and delivery of industry events for VEKA plc.


Following VEKA plc strategy and content pillars, you will create and deliver an annual PR plan, researching and writing all media releases and regularly analysing and reporting results. You will be the key contact for media enquiries and draft or advise on appropriate responses.

On behalf of VEKA plc, you will cultivate relationships with influential print, digital and broadcast journalists or thought leaders within the fenestration and local business sector.

Working closely with the Marketing Communications Manager and Digital Communications team, you will contribute to and maintain a content planner; sentiment tracking and advising on relevant issues. You will also be responsible for a media support budget.

To support a successful PR plan, you will manage the editorial image and video library and organise any shoots needed in agreement with line manager.

Award entries are key to the role and you will be responsible for identifying, researching, and entering local and industry awards, as well as managing VEKA’s presence at any event.

You will support the planning, organisation and delivery of key industry events such as The FIT Show and the annual Independent Network Member’s Weekend, remaining within budget and reporting on success measures. Utilising all events as a platform for increased PR and media coverage.

Skills/experience required

You will have a creative mind and an eye for detail. The ability to write compelling copy in a variety of tones of voice is essential, together with excellent editing skills. You will have strong inter-personal skills to develop internal and external relationships and capture key information.

A strong communicator with solid presentation skills, you will have the ability to be proactive in the planning, research, review and delivery of the company’s PR and Events plan.

You are efficient and organised and have the experience and ability to use digital project planning tools that present a real time status of any project.

Educated to degree level in PR and / or Marketing is preferred, you will have a track record of planning and delivering communication strategies (media engagement, press releases, content generation, media stunts/hooks, etc.) and events, ideally in a B2B organisation, is essential.

You will have experience in a similar role, either in-house (working without agency support) or within agency (focusing on specific client activity and able to bring that experience to an in-house role), both of which able to showcase work and their results.
