Job description

To provide support and cover in all aspects of the accounts function with the main emphasis on assisting the Finance Manager with the preparation of the monthly management accounts.  Deputise for the Finance Manager when necessary.

Responsibilities

  • To help achieve the business objectives set for the Finance function
  • Assist the Finance Manager in the month end process
  • Assist in the preparation of timely and accurate monthly management accounts
  • Calculation, analysis and reporting of sales and margins
  • Balance sheet reconciliations
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts with the Finance Manager and Finance Director
  • Assist in the preparation of statutory accounts at year end
  • Preparing information for audit and tax compliance
  • Preparation of VAT returns and HMRC liaison
  • Banking and foreign currency
  • Provide financial advice and support to other members of the organisation
  • Communicate effectively to all levels within the business
  • To ensure that reporting deadlines are met, produce ad-hoc analysis and reports as and when required of business performance
  • Improve processes and internal controls
  • To ensure the integrity of the various Finance systems are maintained and develop and improve systems where possible
  • To be aware of and comply with Company procedures and policies
  • To promote and implement relevant Company policies and procedures
  • Ensure responsible use of Company resources
  • To represent the Company in a professional manner
  • To maintain a flexible and enthusiastic approach to Company matters, upholding and promoting the VEKA Values at all times, both internally and externally

Skills/experience required

  • CIMA Qualified
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Driven to improve processes and procedures
  • Willingness to take on additional tasks
  • Good time management, planning and organisational skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Flexible
  • Motivated to work individually and as part of a team
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Competent IT skills especially on Excel including using a wide range of functions and formulas, creating pivot tables
  • Knowledge and experience in working with SAP would be an advantage but not essential
