Gabriela Hammond, The VEKA UK Group’s Head of Human Resources commented: “We’ve always been proactively involved in encouraging young people to get a good footing in business.
“Whether through ongoing relationships with schools and colleges or the ‘on-the-job’ vocational qualifications reflected in our Investors In People status, we understand that our company’s continuing success links directly to our staff – now and in the future.”
“This National Apprenticeship Week saw us attend Training 2000’s Modern Apprenticeship recruitment event, allowing us to gauge the impressively high calibre of candidates and showing us how seriously they consider their future careers. Young people are becoming more and more savvy about the opportunities available to them and it was a fantastic opportunity for us to engage with them about the many apprenticeship opportunities here at VEKA.”
“This year, I’m pleased to announce, we’ve doubled the number of apprenticeships on offer, with positions available in Sales and Marketing, Customer Services, Toolroom and Maintenance. In addition, there are two advanced apprenticeship / postgraduate opportunities, where successful candidates will gain experience in all departments while studying at the University of Central Lancashire in Preston for a Foundation Degree qualification.”
“While I’m sure it’ll prove a considerable challenge to whittle down the applications to arrive at six final candidates, it’s nevertheless a task I’m looking forward to and I can’t wait to get started!”
